Her Story
Diagnosis and when:
Originally diagnosed with endometrial cancer in the fall of 2016.  Cancer returned and diagnosed in Sept. 2020
 
Currently in treatment, remission, or maintenance:
Currently doing radiation, then carbo/taxol + Jemperli
 
Who is your support system, your tribe:
My husband is my biggest supporter; my family, friends, and church family have all kept me in their prayers, sent cards, texts, etc and have been such a huge encouragement to me.  
 
What helped you through treatment:  
God has given me peace and as mentioned above, the support from family & friends.
 
What brought you to CARE:  
I ran into Alice Spinelli and she invited me to come.   I was in remission at the time and felt like I had a sufficient amount of support but thought I might be able to encourage others as they went through their journey.  As it turned out, it helped me too.
 
How did CARE support you:
C.A.R.E. is a community of people who really care and help put us in contact with other groups that offer additional help.  Through the open forum meetings and special speakers, as well as conversations outside of the meetings, I have learned more and felt a connection to others who are going through a similar journey or who have helped patients like me through it.  My friends and family are super supportive but they haven't experienced what I've experienced and what others like me have gone through. 
 
Encouraging words:
You are not alone.  We have wonderfully, talented providers, effectve treatments that continue to be discovered, better medications to help with side effects, and groups like C.A.R.E. who are here to help you every step of your journey. 
 
Advice:
Don't go it alone.  Even if you're like I was and thought you had the support that you needed, join a cancer support group and be part of a community that knows what you're going through.
